Originally from Chicago, Michelle graduated from The American Academy of Art in 1990 with a degree in Graphic Design and Art Direction. She then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she lived for 28 years working as an art teacher at a K-8 private school and later as the Education Programs Manager at The Foster Museum. Michelle moved to Washington state in 2019 where she currently works and resides.
Her medium has varied for years from ink on silk to watercolor, colored pencil, pastel, and acrylic. In the past few years she’s been exploring printmaking, surface design, and textile design and she’s hooked! Her early design background has come into play with her intricate patterns and bold color choices.
In the Fall of 2024, she made the decision to leave her day job and pursue her lifelong passion of owning her own creative business. She spends her days designing and carving one-of-a-kind blocks for her printed fabrics, which are sewn into a variety of bags and home goods.
